Weekly Refuse and Recycling Pickup Will Take Place on Fridays

Refuse

Flood Brothers will provide each single-family home with a 95-gallon refuse cart. All equipment will be owned and maintained by Flood Bros.

Flood Brothers will collect a single Container and one Bulk Item per week. Additional Municipal Waste shall be placed in a container or bag not exceeding thirty three (33) gallons or fifty (50) pounds with up to five (5) bags or approved containers as described herein at no additional charge.

Such additional containerized Municipal Waste in excess shall require a pre-paid refuse sticker to be affixed thereto. The cost of a pre-paid refuse sticker shall be $2.15 per sticker.

Senior Limited Curb Service
Residents sixty-five (65) years old or older are eligible for limited service with a single Senior Container and one Bulk Item per week. Resident shall contact Flood Bros.to request this service and verify proof of age.

Recycling

Flood Brothers will provide each single-family household with a 65-gallon recycle cart.  Flood Bros will make available, if requested, an alternative size of 35 or 95-gallon cart, if the customer would like to switch out from the specified 65-gallon.  Residents are asked to contact Flood bros after November 1st, 2019 to make arrangements for an alternative size cart. Additional carts are available for those residents that would be interested; a rental price would be applied. All equipment will be owned and maintained by Flood Bros.

Flood Brothers will allow recycling materials to be comingled (i.e. plastic, glass, metal, and paper products mixed together). There is no limit to the number of recycling bins or to the quantity of the recyclable that a household may place at the curb for collection. Residents have the right to set out recycling bins which are clearly marked for recycling collection and do not exceed 35 gallons or 50 lbs. Flood Bros. will collect from all the recycling bins that have been placed neatly at the curb for collection.

Yard Waste Collection

Flood Brothers will provide, once per week, landscape waste collection based on the service options listed below. Collections will occur once per week, April 1st through November 30th.

All yard wasted shall be placed in a waterproof plastic or metal container with a tight cover, or a biodegradable Kraft bag, of a size no larger than 35 gallons and not exceeding 50lbs. Flood Brothers will make a cart available opon request.

There shall be no limit on the number of containers placed out for collection by a given household.  We will accept and collect all bundles of brush or limbs, providing the bundles do not exceed a weight of fifty (50) pounds per bundle, are not more than four (4) feet long, are not more than
two (2) feet in diameter, do not contain limbs greater than three (3) inches in diameter and are tied with a material that is accepted at the designated compost site.

Service Options
A resident may select one of the optional service levels identified below:

Pay-per-bag/sticker system. One paid Landscape Waste sticker shall be required for each landscape waste container of waste placed out for collection. The cost of each sticker shall be $2.15 per container. In addition, during the period of October 15th through November 30th a leaf sticker will be applied to all leaf collection containers/bags. The cost of each leaf sticker shall be $1.85 per Container.

Seasonal Subscription Service. Between April 1st and November 30th Flood Brothers shall collect four (4) containers per week; Contractor shall increase pick-up to six (6) containers per week for the period from October 15th through November 30th. The cost of the program will be pre-paid for the season at $187.50 per season, per Residential Dwelling Unit.

Seasonal Subscription Service w/95gal Cart. Contractor will supply the subscriber a 95gal enclosed cart for the collection of all landscape waste, any additional landscape waste that does fit into the enclosed cart will require a pre-paid sticker. The cost of the subscription service will be pre-paid for the season at $157.60 per season.

Seasonal Subscription Landscape/Food Scrap Service w/65gal Cart. Contractor will supply the subscriber a 65gal enclosed cart for the collections of mixed landscape waste and food scraps. Additional landscape waste will require a pre-paid sticker. The cost of the subscription service will be pre-paid for the season at
$116.50 per season.

Note: Dirt, pots, sod, large branches, tree stumps, rocks, garden vegetables, fruit and non-organic materials are not considered yard waste and WILL NOT BE COLLECTED.

Bulk Item Collection

Bulk Item collection service will be available to collect and dispose of discarded materials which are too large and bulky to be handled by packer-type equipment.

All bulk items shall be placed at curbside by a resident for collection on the collection day, provided a call has been made 24 hours prior to Flood Brothers by the resident notifying of the Bulk Item collection.

After one (1) item per week, a charge of $7.00 will apply to your account per bulk item collected.

Holidays and Holiday Service Schedules

If a holiday falls on a weekday or a Sunday, and your regularly scheduled pickup is on or after the holiday, your pickup will be delayed by one day. Friday customers will be serviced on Saturday.

Flood Brothers will not collect on the following holidays:

  • NEW YEAR’S DAY
  • MEMORIAL DAY
  • INDEPENDENCE DAY
  • LABOR DAY
  • THANKSGIVING DAY
  • CHRISTMAS DAY

Christmas Tree Collection

Christmas trees, without landscape waste stickers, will be collected the first two weeks in January.  Holiday greenery must have all tinsel, ornaments, lights and nails removed before being placed out at the curb for pickup.

White Good Item Collection

Flood Brothers will also provide collection services for white food items (i.e. appliances). Examples shall include; Refrigerators, dish washers, water heaters, washers, dryers, etc.

Residents will be asked to call our office 24 hours prior to collection to schedule the pickup. A charge of $13.00 per item will apply.

E-Waste (Electronic) Collection / Electronics Recycling

Residents can drop off electronic recycling at Township building or residents can call Flood Brothers office to schedule curbside collection.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency states electronic waste is now the fastest growing segment of our nation's waste stream. Electronic waste, from computers to TVs, contain toxic materials such as lead, chromium, cadmium, mercury, beryllium, nickel, zinc and other potentially harmful chemicals. The EPA warns when electronics that contain these materials are not recycled or are not disposed of properly, the hazardous chemicals can contaminate the ground water and present additional environmental concerns. Illinois State Law bans electronic waste in landfills. Under this state law, electronic waste cannot be collected with household refuse/waste.

Household Hazardous Waste/Unacceptable Materials

Flood Brothers would inform residents to reach out to our office when possible hazardous waste material may need to be disposed of. We will work with the resident to find the best solution for disposal with the assistance of Lake and McHenry Count Recycling programs.
